We all got to start some where , i started out by borrowing my swaars rods , he was the person who sparked the passion , always inviting me along , and making sure i was equipped while angling , showing me all the tips and tricks i needed to start on my own .
As i ventured on my own i got the basics down to go out with my son and have a lekker day out with him, buying just the basics to allow us to have a lekker day out .watching endless videos on youtube of local anglers , that allowed me to try new things and try better the next session.
A mate of mine had noticed all my posts on fishing , and invited me along to join as a visitor at his club, the Alberton angling club , my first time with a club , i was clueless and knew nothing about competative angling , this is where my real drive came in, after a few events , i was getting the hang of things , every individual in the club helped me , showed me , and guided me and they still do , until this very day, and a proud member of the club today .I am very grateful to have joined a club where passion is key, learning, people helping you better your self as an angler is key . I had found my happy place.
As my knowledge grew i still wanted to grow and experiment ,and try something new ,i wanted bigger and better Fish , and this is where my goal setting adventures began, researching , following influencers, and following as many fishing venues and social media pages as possible. By this time my wife was joining me on some of my adventures and this is where i staterd upgrading my gear so we could all have equipment to fish with , and have the correct fish care equipment, as we started breaking PBs.
I have blanked on plenty occasions , i have met plenty anglers , made friends which i angel on a regular basis wirh ,fellow anglers shared stories and knowledge of where to go what to use , and what can work best in certain venues and weather conditions , absorbing as much as possible, its an never ending jornery
At the end of the day , what i have learnt about angling is, stay humble , listen , learn and try what you have learnt, and enjoy every moment❤️.
